Panasonic recently took the wraps off their new Lumix FZ1000 4K camera. The FZ1000 is able to record 4K QFHD (3840 x 2160) video at 30p with a high bit rate of 100Mbps in the MP4 file format.
Panasonic really has a couple of really great 4k cameras available for some time now. However, there's not going to be native support for the MP4 codec in most NLEs, even if FCPX.

How to import Panasonic Lumix FZ1000 4K MP4/1080P MTS to FCP X without rendering on Mac
Step 1. Download, install and run the 4K MP4/1080P MTS to FCPX Converter; click “Add Files” icon to import your source 4K MP4/1080P MTS files.
Step 2. Select Apple ProRes 422 codec for Final Cut Pro X.
Click the “Profile” option, and move mouse cursor to Final Cut Pro > Apple ProRes 422 HQ (*.mov) as output format. To get 1080 videos, we need to click the “Settings” button and choose 1920*1080 as output video resolution.
Step 3. Click the Settings icon if you’d like to customize advanced audio and video parameters like Video Codec, aspect ratio, bit rate, frame rate, Audio codec, sample rate, audio channels.
Step 4. Convert Panasonic Lumix FZ1000 4K MP4/1080P MTS files for FCP X. Hit the Convert button to start encoding Panasonic Lumix FZ1000 footage to MOV for FCP X. When the conversion is done, click “Open” button to locate the converted Apple ProRes 422 MOV files for editing with Final Cut Pro without rendering.
